Ohh, I’m the first to post fiction. I know it has the worst title in the world, but I couldn't think of anything else so I used the dvd chapter title. At any rate, this is my take on what happened in the House of Pain, since, well, Priest wasn't turned into a reaper here. (I assume this takes place after the House of Pain; if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me and I shall take this down.) Hope you enjoy.
Priest turned to see the reaper coming for him, and he drew his gun and fired — but he was too late. The reaper jumped him and he cried out, firing wildly as they struggled. He tried to push the disgusting creature off him but it was strong, stronger than him.
They wrestled for control, but he was thrown behind the bar instead. He yelled in surprise and pain as he crashed into the glass panes that lined the back of the bar. Asad was firing, trying to bring the reaper down. The shards of glass cut into his back and the wind was knocked out of his lungs as he hit the ground. Sharp pain burned through Priest’s chest and he was pretty damn sure at least two ribs were broken.
He groaned, clutching his arm. It was snapped in two places at least. He couldn’t get up, his chest was fucking burning and he swore to La Magra, the minute he could get up that reaper was going to wish it hadn’t even been turned --
With a roar, the reaper came at him again. He tried to fight back as he was hauled up by his collar. Asad kept firing and most of his bullets embedded themselves into the flesh of the reaper but the mutation paid no heed. It dropped him and, grabbing Asad, lifted him clean off the ground and threw him down the length of the corridor.
Then he was up against the wall, his head being slammed against the pillar. He saw stars and black spots surrounded the edge of his vision. Oh, shit -- Priest breathed a prayer to the blood gods in his thoughts.
“Priest!” Asad called for help as Priest lashed out with hands and feet. His foot found the reaper’s shin and groin, but it didn’t slow it down. The reaper roared again. Priest worked in a few decent left hooks, but then the reaper struck back. If he had been a human, that blow alone would have knocked him out. It grabbed his wrist and with a vicious twist, dislocated the bone.
It gripped his head and he was unable to strike back. Its jaw split open, the deadly flower of its tongue extending for him.
He screamed.
“Listen, if you’re under attack, use your UV lights, use your UV lights, they can’t take the light!” Scud’s desperate words came over Chupa’s earphone. He watched as Reinhardt acknowledged the advice by lifting his stake-gun up and flipping open the cover of the UV light. Slowly, deliberately, he pointed it at the reaper that Chupa had gunned down earlier.
The thing screamed, struggling to escape. It was pumped so full of lead it couldn’t get up. Its flesh burned to ash and, finally, exploded into a bright flash. Its last remnants floated to the ground like snowflakes, deceptively non-lethal.
Someone was calling for help from another side of the House of Pain. Chupa turned, trying to find the source, and saw Asad. His weapon was missing from his hand but he was scrambling to his feet, yelling Priest’s name.
Chupa realized what was happening and ran to help. His best friend was in grave danger.
As soon as he turned into the corridor he started firing, seeing that Priest was pinned against the wall having his brains smashed out against the pillar. He advanced, Asad slightly in front of him. Asad was cautious, but Chupa didn’t care. He went ahead and emptied most of his magazine into the reaper’s back.
It screamed and dropped Priest as it fell, writhing in pain. Asad grabbed his own gun and, flipping the cover of the UV light away, proceeded to scorch the reaper. It scrambled away on all fours.
There was so much blood on the Scot he wasn’t sure if he had been bitten or not. Chupa dropped his gun and bent down.
“Priest, man, what did that thing do to you...?”
-- I won’t die without a fight --
And suddenly the reaper was down, screaming in pain as dozens of bullets rained into its back. Priest collapsed also, his blood dripping into his eyes, hurting all over.
The reaper was moving -- away from him, as fast as it could. There was ash flaking off its bare skull, someone had burned it.
Chupa was beside him, his gun nearby. “Priest, man, what did that thing do to you...?”<br>
“It broke my arm,” he groaned, cradling it close to his body. “And wrist and ribs.” Chupa helped him sit up against the wall, and it hurt. The glass that were pressed into his back didn’t help.
Asad went to the corner to see if the reaper was coming back for more; satisfied that it was gone, he joined Chupa in helping Priest up.
The earphone had dropped to his brother-in-arms’ chest, and he heard Reinhardt’s voice over it, demanding an answer. “Do we have a man down? Chupa, Asad, do we have a man down?!”
“Priest is okay. Priest is okay,” Asad said into the microphone. There was nothing for him to make a temporary cast for his broken wrist. It hung at an unnatural angle, but he took it and told him it was going to hurt. Before Priest could even acknowledge that, he twisted it back into shape. The redhead gave a strangled cry of pain.
“C’mon,” Chupa said, helping him to his feet while trying to be as gentle as possible. He took one side and Asad, the other. “Let’s get you out of here.”
